Recommend a hall: the terms

Recommend Village Hall Hub to another hall, and once they have stayed with us for three months you both get a month free. These are the rules that go with it.

Last updated: 30 October 2026

1. Who can take part

Any hall with a Village Hall Hub account, including one still on its free trial. Each hall has its own recommend-us link, found under Subscription, then Billing.

2. When a recommendation counts

A recommendation counts when a new hall signs up having followed your link in the 60 days before, or names your hall in the "Did another hall recommend us?" box when it signs up and we can confirm it was you.

The new hall has to be genuinely new to us: not a hall that already has, or has had, an account with us, not your own hall registered a second time, and not another account for the same organisation. Each new hall can only be recommended by one hall.

3. When the free months are given

Nothing is given when the new hall signs up. The free months are given once the new hall has made three monthly payments, or has paid for a year, by card or by bank transfer. The free trial does not count towards this, and nor does a plan we have given a hall free of charge.

Both halls then get a free month, usually the following morning, and we email each of them to say so.

4. What a free month is

One month of your own plan, at the price you pay:

  • If you pay by card, a month's price comes off your next card payment. If you pay yearly, that is a twelfth of your yearly price.
  • If you pay by bank transfer, the date you are paid up to moves on by a month, and so does the due date of any invoice we have already sent for the next period.

A free month has no cash value. It cannot be paid out, swapped for anything else or passed to another hall, and any of it not yet used is lost if your account closes.

5. Limits

A hall can earn up to twelve free months in any twelve months by recommending us. Recommendations beyond that are still welcome, but do not earn a further month for the hall that made them; the new hall still gets its own.

If the hall that recommended us is not paying for a plan when its month is earned, for example because it is still on its trial, the month is kept for it and given as soon as it starts paying.

6. Fair use

The scheme is for halls telling other halls about us. We may decide a recommendation does not count if it does not meet these terms, for example a duplicate or made-up hall, or one where the payments that earned it are refunded, and we may take back a free month given for it. If we do, we will tell you why.

7. Changes to the scheme

We may change or end the scheme. If we do, we will email account holders first, and any free month already earned under these terms will still be given, including for a hall that signed up through your link before the change and goes on to make its three payments afterwards.
